Research & academics
backConstructing The Future is currently progressing a proactive research and development programme to develop best practice by linking their work to a wider audience. In this light we routinely submit papers and articles to journals, conferences and newsletters. Among these are cib w92 BEECON 2006 and 2007 (First and Third Annual Built Environment Education Conference), BEAR 2006 and 2008 (Building Education And Research Conference) and the Construction History Society Newsletter – see list of published papers below. This is not purely academic research but is practically grounded in the needs of the Pennine Lancashire construction sector.
CTF is also constantly seeking new and innovative ways of addressing these needs. The Pennine Lancashire Construction Consortium is one such example. The consortium is composed of three local FE institutions (Blackburn, Accrington & Rossendale, and Burnley), and recently submitted a bid to the Higher Education Council For England (HECFE) via the North West Universities Association (NWUA) for funding to further develop the provision of education for the construction sector in Pennine Lancashire.
