Pennine Lancashire Construction Consortium

back

The Pennine Lancashire Construction Consortium has been introduced to enable the three College providers of construction education and training - Blackburn, Accrington & Rossendale and Burnley - to increase their collective training capacity and to work closely with the Sector Skills Council and the Learning Skills Council (LSC) to develop new provision and to provide a variety of employment opportunities in the Pennine Lancashire area.

The following working groups have been set up:

  • HE group to bring together the HE provision and develop a Foundation Degree in Construction Management,
  • Marketing and Publicity group to help develop a one-stop shop for recruitment and information,
  • Management Agency group to meet the demands of large construction companies moving into Pennine Lancashire,
  • OSAT group to enable companies to meet the 'Qualifying the Workforce' Agenda.

As a result of these sub-groups, a new provision has been set up for General Construction Operatives. Collective bids have also been submitted to the LSC and the North West Universities Association to enable the provision to produce 'home-grown' talent to meet the skills needs of the industry.
