News: East Lancashire Independent Training Group - new members welcome....
An essential component of Elevate’s Constructing The Future project is the delivery of training and development skills within the Pennine Lancashire region to assist with the growth of local businesses. The East Lancashire Independent Training Group is a vital part of achieving the aim of developing the performance of local companies. The training group functions in the following manner:
• It provides free access to local companies who form the construction supply chain;
• By membership of the group you have access to the training group officer who is located at Elevate and the Construction Skills East Lancashire training officer;
• The group enables you to develop a training needs assessment which may allow your company to claim support for training activities;
• At the same time the group tracks training needs and output indicators so giving Elevate access to data on aspects such as local employment, representation and apprentices.
The training group meets every six weeks at Elevate’s offices and is chaired by a local industry representative.

Combating climate change: Pennine Lancashire tackles hot CHP topic
Can Combined Heat and Power (CHP) help Pennine Lancashire combat climate change? – That was the key question considered by Elevate and its local authority partners and developers at a recent workshop.
Elevate commissioned the event to examine the environmental and economic benefits of CHP, study implementation success stories, and explain some of the jargon.
Organised by Sustainability Northwest (SNW), the workshop helped Elevate and its partners to better understand the issues and will enable them to make informed decisions about whether this highly efficient way of producing electricity and heat is right for new pathfinder homes.
