Event to get people on the property ladder comes to Blackburn

A Government-backed event aimed at helping people get on the property ladder is being held in Blackburn. Click here for a flyer.

Organised by Blackburn with Darwen Council, in conjunction with Elevate, Plumlife and the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), the event will make people aware of the advice and mortgage products available to help them buy their first home or move up the property ladder.

The Key Event will be held at King George’s Hall on Thursday, September 17 between 12pm and 7pm.

It brings together six big name developers with ready-to-move-into homes in the borough, two high street lenders and independent mortgage advisers.

Leader of the Council, Councillor Mike Lee, said: “If you are looking to get onto the property ladder, this event is a must. Where else would you find developers, lenders and mortgage advisers all in one place. We know it is a difficult market right now for buyers and developers and this event will provide real help for people wanting to get on the property ladder. “

Elevate Chief Executive Max Steinberg said: “Despite difficulties in the current market, there are still financial products available to buy a good quality home in Pennine Lancashire. This event gives anyone interested in buying a home a unique, free opportunity to talk directly to lenders, financial advisers, solicitors and developers to help people explore all the options open to them.”

Deborah McLaughlin, NW Regional Director for the HCA, said: “It is great to see would-be homebuyers in Blackburn get this opportunity to get such excellent advice in their search for a house.

“It is certainly more difficult to buy a home at the moment – but it’s not impossible. It’s about knowing what is out there – including the various HomeBuy initiatives funded by the HCA - and what is available to people. This event could open the right doors for first time buyers looking for a mortgage and advise them on the latest options available.”
