New hand at the helm

Elevate has recruited a new Strategy and Policy Director with a passion for Pennine Lancashire.

Jackie Mason will be responsible for ensuring the Housing Market Renewal (HMR) pathfinder is taking the right approach to regenerating Pennine Lancashire’s inner urban areas.

A resident of Pendle, Jackie has seen Elevate’s work up close, and has huge enthusiasm for the area and particularly the stunning Pennine Lancashire countryside. She worked alongside the pathfinder in her previous role with Lancashire County Council.

Jackie will ensure through ongoing research and analysis that Elevate continues to anticipate the future needs of local communities where housing is currently in poor condition or low demand and there is a lack of housing choice. She will also make sure the pathfinder adopts and follows the policies needed to get the housing market back on track, and works in partnership with other organisations which can help make Pennine Lancashire a place where people want to live, work and visit.

“The work Elevate is doing to rebuild communities is something I strongly believe in,” said Jackie, who lives with her two children Lucy and Jake and is a governor at a local school.

“I got my first taste of regeneration a number of years ago whilst working in Bury, it whetted my appetite and now I am passionate about helping Pennine Lancashire reach its potential.

“We live in a fantastic area, but it isn’t as widely recognised as it should be. I want to help make it a destination that people choose, both for living and leisure.”

Elevate Chief Executive Max Steinberg said: “We are delighted to have Jackie on board. Her enthusiasm for the area is second to none, and with her vision, expertise and commitment, Elevate will benefit significantly from her appointment.”
